We meet on the Climate Camp in Pödelwitz. Pödelwitz is a small village in the Region sourrounding Leipzig and the MIBRAG plans to destroy the village for the opencast lignite mine Vereinigtes Schleenhein. To counter this people of the region are organising protest. This year a Climate Camp takes place there for the first time. You won’t be able to oversee it.
To participate in the action Kohle erSetzen! you should arrive on the Camp latest on Friday 3rd August 2018 at 10 am, but better on Thursday evening 2nd August. Preparing for the action starts on Friday morning at 10:00. The time is needed for a well prepared action.
Nearest train stations are Neukieritzsch (8km) and Pegau (10km), where (small) buses (271) go to Pödelwitz. From the train stations Pegau and Neukieritzsch you can follow handpainted wood signs to the Climate Camp. If you are unsure or lost call the information phone of the climate camp: 0152 1458 7454. Further information.
People for whom it is a serious barrier to get from the train station to the camp there is a shuttle available, which also brings bicycles to the train station in Neukieritzsch while offering to take your luggage to the camp: +49 15213948921
For our ability to act it is good to have a broad choice of transportation so it would be wonderful if you could bring a bicycle a full car or something else to be mobile when arriving. By the way: it is possible to take your bicycle with you on the regional trains for free in Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia as well as in the Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund (MDV) around Leipzig.
Do not plan to leave before Sunday evening 6 p.m. and if you want to stay a bit longer to help deconstructing the camp that would be grand!
